As a producer, we would like to interview about what you thought when you first started in 1975, how many surgeons you have trained, patients you’ve helped and where the patients have come from, changes in surgical techniques and outcomes over the past 40 years, detail about the procedure (you’re doing mostly MtF surgery), why Thailand has become a Mecca for transpeople seeking SRS, demand for SRS and the changes you have observed in societal attitudes toward transgender people.

We are very conscious of the sensitivity of this story, and want to ensure that it’s helpful and informative. We would like to take some B-roll (additional, supportive footage) of your clinic, but don’t want to make any of your patients feel uncomfortable by this, so will be guided by you and your staff in this respect. Ideally, we would like to interview a patient.

We don’t want to cause any discomfort or embarrassment for any of Dr Preecha’s patients. Ideally, we would like to talk with a woman who is happy to show her face on camera, as we think not showing her face may only feed into the stigma that has long-frustrated transgender people.

In any case, you have my assurance of being respectful, transparent and sensitive with both the print and TV story.
