Chin augmentation

Preparation before Chin Augmentation.

• Inform us about any allergies, any serious medical condition(s), and all medications you are 
  taking (both prescription and non-prescription). 
• No Aspirin 2 days before surgery.
• Stop vitamin E Oil 1 day before surgery.
• Stop smoking 2 days and a month after surgery.
• Shower and shampoo before the procedure. Cosmetics should not be worn. 
• Tell doctor if you have any serious medical condition(s). 
• Plan to be in Thailand at least 7 days all together.

Things should bring from home.

• Button-up shirts in large sizes
• Slip-on shoes or slippers
• Phone charger, long phone charger
• Books, magazines
• Travel neck pillow
• Personal daily medicines

• Day 1 - Consultation
• Day 2 - Surgery
• Day 3 to day 9 - Recovery period and Follow up
• Days 9 - Stitches will be removed

For local’s patient - You may resume to work after a few days but should avoid heavy lifting object over the head or fast movement during 3 to 4 weeks after surgery date.

For international patient - Please plan to be in Bangkok at least 7 days. Stitches will remove day five after surgery date. After departure from Thailand, you may resume to work but must avoid heavy lifting object over the head or fast movement during 3 to 4 weeks after surgery date.

◊ Any bruising and swelling will usually dissipate within one months after chin augmentation surgery.

Chin augmentation surgery may take from 45 minutes to an hour either under general anesthetic or under a local anesthetic. 

Most chin augmentation procedures involve an incision inside the mouth inside the lower lip, or in the skin just under the chin. 

• Variables that influence the decisions involved in the procedure such as length, width and symmetry of chin and the degree of projection desired
• The surgeon will explain the specific details of your case such as the technique that will be used, anesthesia, where the operation will be performed, and realistically can accomplish. Risks and cost be discuss with the surgeon during direct consultation.

The surgeon inserts the chin implant via the incision and maneuvers it into place and the incision is closed with sutures. The skin may be taped with a pressure dressing for about one week after surgery.

After chin implant surgery, there is some soreness and discomfort which is easily controlled by medication.  The surgeon may advise meal liquid such as clear soup for a day or two following surgery.

The surgery is a day surgery and able to back to work within a few days (desk job). The dressing usually is removed within a week of surgery.

Recovery Timeline for Chin Augmentation.

Swelling and bruising by chin augmentation should be expected for up to two weeks, however, in some cases bruising and swelling may be evident for up to one month.

• Normal work can be resumed 3 to 5 days after chin implant procedure (desk jobs).
• Vigorous activity should be limited for 3 weeks, including jogging, bending, sex, or any activity that increases your blood pressure.
• Within a few weeks, minor swelling and bruising can usually be hidden.
