Double eyelids

To be preparation double eyelid surgery.

• Inform us about any allergies, any serious medical condition(s), and all medications you are
  taking (both prescription and non-prescription)
• No Aspirin 2 days before surgery
• Stop vitamin E Oil 1 day before surgery
• Stop smoking 2 days and a month after surgery
• Tell doctor if you have any serious medical condition(s)
• Stiches are remove five days after surgery date
• Plan to be in Thailand at least 6 days after surgery

On the day before your eyelid surgery make sure that you have items stocked at home such as ice cubes or ice pack

Make sure to shower and shampoo before the procedure and to wash your eyebrows. Cosmetics should not be worn. Also, be sure that you have arranged for someone to take you to and from the clinic where your surgery will be performed.

For local’s patient – You may resume to work after a few days but must avoid heavy lifting object over the head or fast movement during 4 to 8 weeks after surgery date.

For international patient – Please plan to be in Bangkok at least six days. Stitches will remove day 5 after surgery date. You may resume to work (desk job) but avoid heavy lifting object over the head or fast movement during 4 weeks after surgery date.

◊ Any bruising and swelling will usually dissipate within 2 to 3 months after double eyelid surgery.

Things should bring from home or after surgery.

• Button-up shirts in large sizes
• Phone charger, long phone charger
• Travel neck pillow
• Sun Glasses
• Ice pad

Double eyelid surgery is usually takes about 60 - 80 minutes and performed at the Preecha Aesthetic Institute under Local Anesthesia (day surgery).

• Full Incision ⇒ This technique is best suited for those patients with excess fat and skin in the upper eyelid. This method provides the most permanent results of the three methods listed.  Incision will be a visible scar. The eyelid skin is very thin and the scar is typically cosmetically acceptable.
• Partial incision ⇒ This method is a tiny slit to portion of eyelid.
• No Incision (suture) ⇒ This method is ideal for patient who do not have excess fat or skin in their eyelids.

The recovery process after double eyelid surgery may take up to a few weeks. Patients will receive instruction for during the home care.

The first two days doctor recommend keeping iced eye pack on the eyes to reduce bruising and swelling. Patients are recommended to keep their head higher than the body while sleeping as this will accelerate the recovery process.

The third day after surgery, patients are advised to keep lukewarm eye pads for comfort and wearing dark glasses for at least one week is also recommended to prevent irritation that may be caused by the wind and sun exposure.

Wearing contact lenses is prohibited until the incisions are completetely cured. Patients who need them will be advised by surgeon when it is safe wearing them again.

Patients who undergo double eyelids may watch TV and able to read after two or three days. Patients may go to work in three days or a week after the operation. The scars may however still be visible but one can use makeup to cover them.

Scars are usually well hidden and normally fade in time, however incision may leave patients with bruises or swelling on their faces and sometimes patients become depressed from this reason. These are some of the side effects of surgery, which are completely normal and which disappear in few weeks, after a complete healing.

To organize planning trip for double eyelid surgery (at least five days after stitches removed)

Day 1 - Consultation and surgery

Day 2 - Rest at home

Day 3 - Able to read, watching TV, light activity

Day 4 - Able to go outside. But wear Sun Glasses

Day 6 - Stitches will be removed

Day 6 - You may return to work

For the first few days after the Asian double eyelid surgery, the new crease will most likely look a bit higher than where one would imagine it should be. By over the course of the next month or two, the crease will settle into the location the surgeon intended it to.
