overview

Testicular Implants in Female-to-Male (FtM) Surgery

Testicular implant surgery – also known as a testicle implant procedure—is a common step in female-to-male (FtM) gender-affirming surgery. It is typically performed as a secondary procedure after metoidioplasty or phalloplasty, with most surgeons recommending a minimum healing period of ten months after metoidioplasty before placement.

The decision on when to insert testicular prostheses is made on a case-by-case basis. Your surgeon will carefully evaluate factors such as the degree of healing, tissue inflammation, and any medical considerations before proceeding.

HydroCone Testicular Implants for FtM Surgery

The HydroCone testicular implant is a next-generation prosthesis designed specifically for FtM bottom surgery. Made of a soft, flexible gel polymer, it offers a natural look and feel. The implant’s inner surface is coated with hyaluronic acid, which becomes extremely slippery when hydrated with sterile saline solution.

Key Benefits of HydroCone Testicular Implants:

  • Reduced post-operative complications – May lower the risk of capsular contracture.
  • Shorter surgery time – Designed to make placement more efficient.
  • Natural texture and appearance – Soft and flexible for realistic results.

Guidance on Testicular Implant Surgery

Testicular implants are an important part of many FtM gender confirmation surgeries, helping patients achieve a more natural masculine appearance. With advanced options like the HydroCone implant, individuals may benefit from fewer complications, quicker surgery, and enhanced comfort. However, patients should remember that implants are designed for aesthetic appearance and confidence, not for biological function.

Leading surgeons—such as Assoc. Prof. Preecha Tiewtranon, MD, Dr. Burin Wangjiraniran, and Dr. Sutin Khounsongserm—are internationally recognized experts in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. They emphasize the importance of open, honest communication throughout the surgical journey. Comprehensive consultations with board-certified professionals help patients fully understand their goals, risks, and expected results before undergoing surgery.

Summary

Testicular implant surgery plays a key role in female-to-male gender-affirming procedures, contributing to a more natural masculine appearance. With innovations such as the HydroCone implant, patients may experience fewer complications, smoother surgeries, and realistic outcomes. By working with experienced, board-certified surgeons and setting realistic expectations, individuals can achieve results that align with their goals and enhance confidence.
